Culture Pigments

India is an immensely diverse country thanks to countless languages and dialects and their respective cultures. When I think of India, I see myriads of intense colours, with each hue representing one of those languages and cultures.

Holi epitomises this vision: the famous Hindu Festival of Colours is a feast for the eyes. More than a celebration of harvest, it looks like a celebration of diversity. A religious event, Holi could be likened to an artistic one.

As the dazzling mix of pigments creates a dream-like opportunity for photographers, some of the resulting bright and vibrant shots may, at first glance, appear to be Expressionist paintings.
